Course Objectives
You should be able to write and edit a manuscript with the aim to be published in high impact factor journals. Also, you should be able to write a thesis.
Detailed Intended Learning Objectives (ILOs):
This course is designed to make the participants acquire a clear-cut understanding of:
- Target your publication to a specific one. Audience by “framing” their research story for increased impact.
- Acquire enough knowledge of the components of publishable manuscripts.
- Determine your writing strengths and weaknesses.
- Gain the focus needed to improve your writing skills.
- Communicate your scientific ideas most effectively.
- Develop individual manuscript sections.
- Assemble manuscript sections into a cohesive, clear paper.
- Respond effectively to journal reviewers and editors.
- Practice your writing skills with immediate feedback.
- Construct a memorable “take-home message” by connecting all parts of the paper in a flowing narrative.
- Use the writing process to guide & understand your own research.
- Overcome writer’s block by combating perfectionism and procrastination.
- Break your scientific research down into its core arguments.
- Build a logical narrative from those core arguments.
- Eliminate non-essential facts and concepts from a narrative.
- Restructure & formulate sentences to increase their clarity and enhance their functioning within a narrative
- Effectively use peer feedback to quickly develop a rough draft into a final manuscript.

1.2 Ethics in Scientific Publishing.
1.3 Where to Submit Your manuscript and how to prepare a Cover Letter.
2-PREPARING THE TEXT:
2.1 How to Prepare the Title, List the Authors and Addresses, and the Abstract.
2.2 How to Write the Introduction and the Materials and Methods Section.
2.3. How to Write the Results and the Discussion.
2.4 How to Cite the References
3-PREPARING THE TABLES AND FIGURES:
3.1 How to Design Effective Tables.
3.2 How to Prepare Effective Graphs and Photographs.
4-PUBLISHING THE PAPER:
4.1 How to Submit the Manuscript.
4.2 The Review Process and Response to Reviews.
5-How to Write a Thesis and protocol for MSc or Ph.D.
